Add Rent to Your Credit Report
Experian, Equifax and TransUnion do include rent payment information in credit reports if they have received it.
Although rent is reported as a "tradeline" on credit reports much like a mortgage or car loan would be its not treated the same for credit scoring purposes.
The most commonly used certions of the FICO score dont use rental payments information in calculating scores, but FICO 9 and FICOXD do, as does vantage score.
Having rental payment information in your credit report can be useful if you rent again. Landlords prefer tenants who can show a history of paying on time.
NOTE: Also none of these companies report late or missed payments. Which is great. This is because the Credit bureaus will not accept derogatory information when it comes to rental payments. The reason for this is that you might of paid the landlord directly.
